Yes, I still love the older Tazo Awake tea over the more expensive new Tazo Awake tea. I don't taste much differencefrom the old to the new. That is why I bought these.I think Starbucks wanted to make more profit with the new and give you less tea bags to boot. This is definitely a good deal. Thanks,Ron Ajemian
I drink a lot of tea and I don't drink coffee, the main reason being I am apparently one of those wussy types who are highly sensitive to caffeine. As tea taste goes I like it--it's neither better nor worse than average--but for someone like me (and yes, I realize this is not the norm for most people) it is too caffeinated. I had a grande size Awake this afternoon at Starbucks and several hours later I am still recovering. I am no longer nauseous and shaky but I am still hyper. I thought I'd put this out there for anyone else who might experience the same kind of jolt since it isn't really a good feeling. I will keep Awake in mind though if I ever find that I need to build a house in 24 hours or complete a full year of graduate work in a week.
Seems like a normal black tea, but I drink coffee as well and might be used to the level. I have yet to taste a black tea like this one.
It's not. I brew lipton and this one and Lipton actually leaves my mouth all dry and bitter.
I will have to disagree with the review of that it's like a normal black tea. Whatever they put in it, it works and I love it.
As Tazo awake, doesn't. It some how is my perfect black tea.
I also don't see the caffine increase. I get it at starbucks and make it at home.
They bought out what began as a very clever enterprise, which, since the corporate takeover, has stagnated. If you're among the flock of rare non-coffee drinking birds - it's a good idea to keep a few bags of Tazo Awake in the glove compartment. As the previous reviewer suggests - drink for the caffeine. The best popular brand black tea readily available. Then, of course, you can always go to your local Starbucks to get some. Starbucks didn't always own Tazo. However, Borneo Rainforest Organic Black Tea is the purest and tastiest bagged black tea I have found, vastly superior to Tazo, imported from Malaysia by Borneotea Company, available on the net. Also, Amazon Herb Company's Rainforest Treasure Tea keeps you up as effectively (though not nearly as inexpensively) without the caffeine.
It is, of course, caffeinated.Tazo is an interesting company that makes only super premium teas. Just plain old black tea, and a little on the bitter side at that. Tazo does not tell you which ones. Otherwise, it is fine. The only ingredient in Awake is black tea---a blend of "black teas". ***Tazo's Awake Black Tea tastes like an ordinary black tea, maybe a little stronger than usual. I definitely did not taste this, not at all. This eye-opening black tea blend has a full, rich character with hints of dark caramel, malt and black cherries." Well, call me crazy, but I don't taste any of this. It is unclear, though, from their web site, how many of their ingredients are organic or kosher, and they do use some "natural flavors" in their teas--this wording seems a little vague for a super premium tea.On the package, Tazo writes, "a bold breakfast tea of depth and character, invigorating anytime.
On their web site, Tazo describes the flavor profile of Passion as "malty, full of dense, dark cherries". Tazo is owned by Starbucks. If you let it brew even a little too long, it becomes bitter. I'm no professional tea taster, but this seems like a bit of creative fiction writing rather than a description of the tea I drank. They are socially responsible, based in Portland, and have the motto, "The Reincarnation of Tea". Their web site is fun and quirky, with a Zen-type focus, definitely worth checking out. Tazo describes the aroma as "burnt caramel, brown sugar"---whoa. Again, just very ordinary black tea.***
